Troubleshoot A Rice Warmer

Rice warmers are designed to keep cooked rice warm without cooking it further. Rice warmers keep rice fresh and tasty for up to 12 hours. Rice warmers are useful at potluck dinners, in catering, at banquets or in a restaurant.

Instructions

1. Check the plug first. Electrical plugs can absorb much abuse, but the plug's wiring or housing can be damaged and need replacing.

2. Inspect the heating element in the rice warmer. Some rice cookers do double duty as a rice warmers, and the heating element's sophisticated electronics should be examined thoroughly to make sure there is a complete circuit.

3. Unplug the unit and examine the electrical cord. The cord could have been pinched, nicked or gouged and the wires may be broken.

4. Make sure the auto shut off feature is functioning. Whenever there is a danger of overheating, the unit's auto shut off feature breaks the circuit.

5. Replace the inner lid rubber seal if it appears damaged or worn. The seal gets worn and can cause the unit to malfunction during warming.
