Food That Makes You Fat Fast

Fatty burgers are a fast track to weight gain.


Maintaining the right kind of eating lifestyle can be challenging but it is a crucial step in taking care of the body's health. Some foods that are consumed regularly are major contributors of excess fat in the human body. According to Robert Adams of The Side Road, Ontario, obesity is widespread-evidence of the dangerous eating choices people make routinely.


High Fat Foods


Foods that make people fat really fast.


• Fried foods--contain a high amount of Trans fat, which is the unhealthy kind of fat. The flour used in fried foods is refined, stripping away all its healthy nutrients. It is high in carbohydrates. A typical example is French fries.


• Snack foods--potato chips and tortilla chips fall into this category. They are rich in Trans fats, refined sugar and sodium. They're also often sweetened with dangerous artificial flavors and preservatives.


Desserts


• Pastries--donuts, cakes, cookies and pies are high-calorie foods that harm the body. They also have an alarmingly high rate of refined sugar and flour. Even the baked ones treats have a high amount of Trans fat and calories.


• Ice cream and candy--typically made with huge amounts of fat and sugar. Naturally, they are very high in calories. Baked treats have high amounts of refined carbohydrates as well.


Refined Sugars


• Soda drinks and fruit juices--they are high in refined sugar and artificial additives, and are of almost no redeeming nutritional value. Other forms of sugar, such as sucrose, fructose or corn syrup, are also extremely high in refined sugar.


• High-sugared breakfast cereals--these are filled with too many calories and to much refined sugar, which increases blood sugar levels. They are also high in carbohydrates and refined flour.


Condiments and Sauces


• Mayonnaise--regular, full-fat mayo has a high amount of fat, more than the light, fat-free alternatives.


• Gravy--high in calories, carbohydrates and saturated fat.


• Sour cream--although its calcium content makes it somewhat nutritious, it is high in saturated fat, more than the fat-free version.


• Mashed potatoes--normally served with butter and cream, they possess a high amount of fat, carbohydrates and calories.


Other Foods


Some other foods that do not fall neatly into the above categories but also make you fat fast are:


• Whole milk--whole milk may have nutritional value, most notably calcium, but also has high saturated fat content, which adds weight.


• Bread--bread that is made from refined flour is high in fat and carbohydrates. It also has a high number of empty calories.


• Gourmet coffee--a typical Gourmet Brownie Frappuccino extremely high in fat and calories, and does not satisfy hunger, leaving you vulnerable to other indulgences.


Consuming these foods not only piles on the pounds in the system but also lays the groundwork for diseases and problems that come with excess weight. For some of these foods, there are fat-free, more wholesome alternatives that can be used as satisfying replacements for the full-fat versions.
