Store Shrimp In The Refrigerator

Store shrimp in the refrigerator properly to prevent the risk of food-borne illnesses.

Fresh shrimp have a short storage life and need to be refrigerated properly to prevent them from spoiling. Shrimp needs to be handled and stored properly to prevent illness as well. If you plan to use the shrimp within two days after you purchase it, then place it in the refrigerator. If you will not use the shrimp within two days, store it in the freezer by tightly wrapping it in aluminum foil.

Instructions

1. Keep the shrimp in the original container. If that's not possible, place it in a leak-proof container or bag.

2. Store the shrimp in the refrigerator as soon as possible. Leave the shrimp in their shells until you're ready to use them.

3. Place the uncooked shrimp in the coldest part of the refrigerator, such as the bottom shelf. Keep the temperature between 35 and 40 degrees Fahrenheit. Keep the shrimp away from raw fruits and vegetables.

4. Use the shrimp within two or three days. Rinse it under cool running water before you prepare it for cooking.
