Fill Pot Sticker Wrappers

Pot stickers or dumplings are a favorite for many Asian food enthusiasts. Although pot stickers may appear difficult to make at home, once you've mastered add your favorite filling to the pot sticker wrapper, you'll realize even a child can create these specialties.


Instructions


1. Prepare the pot sticker filling. Typical ingredients include meat, pork or seafood, cabbage or other vegetables and spices, such as ginger and garlic. The Food Network has several recipes from which to choose (see Resources below). Blend the ingredients, other than the meat, in a food processor and cut the meat into small manageable pieces.


2. Use round pot sticker wrappers, although most likely square wonton wrappers are easier to find. The pot sticker wrappers are thicker than wonton wrappers. Both wrappers are available in the refrigerated Asian section of most grocery stores. Also, try Asian food markets.


3. Put a wrapper on a flat lightly floured counter top or chopping block. Start with one wrapper and then set up an assembly line to make multiple pot stickers. Leave unused wrappers in a plastic bag or storage container to keep them moist.


4. Place a small amount of your pot sticker filling in the center of a wrapper using a teaspoon. Don't overfill the teaspoon because you don't want to overstuff the pot sticker; jammed pot stickers will burst open during while frying. Spread out the filling with a spoon, making sure the filling is no bigger than a quarter.
