Make Sweetnspicy Bbq Sauce

Homemade BBQ sauce will add that little something extra to your grill this summer.

Barbecuing is a fact of summer life. Whether grilling hot dogs, burgers or a big, juicy steak, the BBQ sauce plays as important a role as any other component in the meal. People compete to have the best sauce, the one with that little something extra that no one else has. Making a simple sweet and spicy sauce can be just what you need to gain that edge over your neighbors.

Instructions

1. Add 1 tsp. of oil to a pre-heated pan.

2. Add chopped onion and garlic cloves and stir constantly until onion begins to look translucent. This will take approximately 1 minute.

3. Add ketchup, tomato sauce, brown sugar, cider vinegar, hoisin and Worcestershire sauce to the pan and stir.

4. Add no-salt seasoning, cayenne pepper, paprika and pepper flakes. You can use chili flakes as an alternative to the pepper flakes or, use both.

5. Allow all ingredients to cook together until they reach a boil and then simmer, covered for 15 minutes.

6. Keep finished sauce in the refrigerator.
