Make A Jar Of Alfredo Sauce Thicker

Traditionally, alfredo sauce is made from parmesan cheese, butter, and heavy cream and served over fettuccine. In American cuisine, it is often mixed with other ingredients such as parsley, garlic, shrimp and chicken. There are many great jarred options available that are very convenient. Use one of the following ideas to make it even thicker.

Instructions

1. Try reducing some of the liquid out of over a low heat. This can be done by simmering for 5 to 7 minutes and stirring frequently.

2. Adding a little flour or cornstarch will help thicken it without added flavor.

3. Whisk in an egg yolk and simmer for at least 3 to 5 minutes to ensure the egg is cooked.

4. Use parmesan cheese because it is one of the best choices. It is typically always a main ingredient, so you're less likely to alter the flavor significantly.

5. Adding either plain or a flavored cream cheese will immediately thicken the sauce. This will also add a richer flavor.
