Dehydrate Peas Using A Dehydrator

Trail mix is a combination of dried fruits, vegetables and nuts.

Dehydrated fruits and vegetables are a great solution for those who need nutritious snacks while on the go. Drying food is also an alternative to canning or freezing for long-term storage. Dried fruits and vegetables do not need to be kept cool and require no heating before eating. An electric dehydrator will draw all of the moisture out of any fruits, vegetables or meats placed inside it.

Instructions

1. Wash the peas in cool water and lay them out on a paper towel to dry off.

2. Arrange the peas on the inside shelf of the dehydrator in a single layer and shut the dehydrator's lid. If the peas are stacked on top of each other, they may not dry properly.

3. Plug in the dehydrator and turn the power on.

4. Allow the peas to dry for six to 14 hours. The actual time will depend on the number of peas you are drying, the humidity and your brand of dehydrator. If you're not sure how long your dehydrator will require, start at six hours and check. If the peas are not crisp, dry for one more hour and test again.

5. Remove dried peas from the dehydrator and place in a sandwich bag for storage.
