Make Simple Red Wine Sangria

A summer treat.

Whether it's served in a beautiful glass or a plastic cup, there's nothing like chilled and fruity sangria to kick off a party. This recipe is almost as fun to make as it is to drink. As an added bonus, it's easy and fairly inexpensive to prepare. This recipe doesn't call for several types of alcohol in addition to the wine, making it even more budget-friendly. Choose a cheap red wine and get ready for a summer drink.

Instructions

1. Measure and pour the wine, orange juice, lime juice and sugar into your serving pitcher and mix well with a wooden spoon.

2. Add 1 1/2 cups fruit to the mixture, varying the fruits to what is in season.

3. Cover and chill for at least six hours, or overnight. Proper chilling allows the flavors to develop and will greatly improve the flavor.

4. Add club soda or lemon-lime soda just before serving if you like your sangria a bit bubbly. Measure 1 cup for the entire pitcher, or just a splash per individual serving. Note that the lemon-lime soda will make it sweeter.
