Tootsie Pops are a lollipop with a chewy chocolate center. These candy treats have been on the market for over three quarters of a century and enjoyed by numerous generations. The Tootsie Pop has been the subject of numerous commercials in which individuals try to find out how many licks it takes to get to the center of this candy treat. The answer has never been officially revealed.
Original Flavors
Tootsie Pops only have five original flavors. These original flavors are chocolate flavor, cherry flavor, raspberry flavor, orange flavor, and grape flavor. Each of these original flavors have a center of a traditional chocolate tootsie pop center. The flavor of the center does not change; only the flavor of the outside candy coating changes.
Rotating Flavors

Company History
Tootsie Roll Industries, Inc. was formed in the United States in 1896 by Leo Hirshfield. The tootsie candy was named after Mr. Hirsfield's daughter, whose name was Tootsie. The Tootsie Pop itself was first produced in 1931. This was nine years after the company registered with the New York Stock Exchange.
How Many Licks Does It Take?
One of the central themes around Tootsie Pops has been investigating how many licks it takes to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop. There is no definitive answer to this question. This doesn't mean people have not tried to answer the question, though. Tootsie Industries, Inc. reports that it has received over 20,000 letters telling them how many licks it took for the writer to reach the center of a Tootsie Pop.

That reward is a certificate issued by Tootsie Industries, Inc. called "The Clean Stick Award," and it is an actual paper certificate that is mailed to you.
