Make Lowfat Hamburgers

Creating and eating low fat meals are very easy to do. Just because a meal is low in fat does not mean it should be low on taste. Making low fat hambugers can actually be a healthy meal choice if done correctly. By following the recipe guidelines provided in this article, you will learn create juicy hamburgers that are packed full with flavor, but contain very little fat.

Instructions

1. Choose ground beef. When purchasing ground beef, choose a lean cut of meat. To choose beef, the redder the meat appears, the leaner it is. An 80/20 ratio on the ground beef label means that it contains only 20 percent fat.

2. Prepare meat. Place lean ground beef into a large mixing bowl. Add to the meat your choice of liquid smoke, Italian dressing or Teriyaki sauce. Mix well and form into thick patties. Salt and pepper both sides of burgers.

3. Cook meat. Grill hamburgers on an outdoor grill, an indoor grill or a stove top grill pan. There will be very little grease draining from the lean patties, so watch them carefully to prevent sticking or burning.

4. Grill vegetables. Along side of the cooking burgers, grill onions, bell peppers, tomatoes and mushrooms. The vegetables will produce wonderful flavors of their own that will add robust flavors to the low fat hamburgers. Prepare turkey bacon in stove top skillet or in microwave.

5. Prepare buns. On whole wheat hamburger buns, add the grilled veggies and cooked turkey bacon. Place the grilled burger on to the dressed bun and enjoy.
